Birkirkara FC extended their impressive unbeaten streak to eight matches in the BOV Premier League, as yesterday evening they defeat Sirens FC with a fine score of 4-2.

The Stripes delivered another bold statement of their current brilliant form when they overcome the difficult challenge in form of Sirens FC. Both sides adopted an offensive approach right from the outset and it was only Birkirkara's superior cutting edge in front of goal that earned them the spoils to maintain their impressive form of late.

The Stripes are now currently in the fourth place on 24 points, four adrift of joint leaders Ħamrun Spartans and Sliema Wanderers who, however, have a game in hand.

Birkirkara created the first scoring opportunity after seventeen minutes. When Sirens`s goalkeeper David Cassar punched away Alves's cross into the path of Enrico Pepe, but the latter's shot was pushed away by Cassar, from the rebound, Paul Mbong turned past Cassar and served Yannick Yankam but the latter's shot was cleared off the line by Raphael.

The Stripes broke the dead-lock on the twenty-seven minute when off a corner by Alex da Paixao from the left, Oscar Carniello beat goalkeeper David Cassar as he pressed defender Thiago Espindola.

However, Birkirkara's joy was short-lived though as straight from the kick-off Sirens equalised when Samba Tounkara pounced on a header by Claudio Bonanni and rounded the goalkeeper before placing at the back of the net.

On the 39 minutes Sirens manage to take the lead, when from a Tounkara corner, Wellington was left unmarked to fire home.

The Stripes made the score level just before the break, when from an Alves free kick, the Sirens defence failed to clear the danger and Mbong hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

After the break, Birkirkara were on the offensive right from the start and after just four minutes they restored their lead, when Montebello served Federico Falcone who smashed the ball past goalkeeper David Cassar.

The Stripes manage to score again in the dying minutes, thanks to Luke Montebello, served by Caio Prado on the left, whose shot was deflected by a defender to end at the back of the net.
