Stripes defeated by Pembroke Athleta
by Ayrton Galea - 27th September 2016Birkirkara FC suffered the second defeat in the BOV Premier League when they were defeated by bottom-placed Pembroke Athleta with a 2-1 score.
Pembroke surged ahead after thirty-four minute when off a cross from the left by Asani Djeljilj, Adrian Borg slotted the ball past goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric.
Birkirkara made the score level on the hour mark thanks to Frank Temile whose shot from the edge of the area beat goalkeeper Calleja Cremona. For Temile, this was the third goal in the last three matches.
However just eight minutes later, Pembroke regained the lead thanks to Jhonatan Bernardo Mariano whose angled shot from the right gave Kopric no chance.
