Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team qualified to the Quarter-Finals of the Youth Knock-out, when they eliminated Qormi with a penalty shoot-out, after the score following the 120 minutes was 2-2.

The Stripes showed great determination to make it to the next round when they had to play for more than the forty minutes of the regular time and the extra-period with a player less, after Andrea Curmi was sent off close to the hour mark.

Trailing by one, after Qormi surged ahead six minutes from half-time, and with one player less, the match looked was an uphill struggle for the Stripes, but their determination rewarded them the equaliser thanks to Clint Zammit. The regular time ended 1-1.

Qormi regained the lead two minutes into the extra-time, but numerical parity was restored in the seventh minute of extra-time when Qormi also had a player sent off. The Stripes made the best out of the situation as they equalised on the twenty-second minute thanks to substitute Russell Gatt De Raffaele, in his first match since rejoining our Club.

During the penalty shoot-out, Joseph Willy missed for the Stripes but Kurt Zammit, Nick Borg, Russell Gatt De Raffaele, Prince Ukenyi, Clint Zammit and Maverick Gatt all scored for the Stripes. On the other hand, Qormi missed two penalties, one of which was saved by goalkeeper Philip Schranz.

The Quarter-Final will be played in the beginning of March.
