BOV Premier League - First round round-up
by Ayrton Galea - 26th December 2018The first-round of the BOV Premier League came to an end last week. Here is a detailed round-up on how the Stripes performed in the opening thirteen matches of this league campaign.
The Stripes are in the sixth place after winning eight out of their thirteen matches with the other five matches ended in a defeat. They are just one out of the two sides that did not registered a draw in this first-round together with Tarxien Rainbows FC.
The biggest victory was on the Matchday 11, played on Saturday, 24 November, when the Stripes defeated Mosta FC with a 3-0 score. On the other hand, the biggest defeat was on Matchday 3, played on Sunday, 16 September, when they suffered a 3-0 against Valletta FC.
Birkirkara scored nineteen goals, while they conceded thirteen goals. They failed to find the net in just two matches, against Valletta FC and St. Andrew's FC respectively, while on the other hand, they managed to complete six clean-sheets against Balzan FC, Floriana FC, Tarxien Rainbows FC, Sliema Wanderers FC, Mosta FC and Senglea Athletic FC.
Jake Grech and Michael Mifsud are joined team's top-scorers as both players scored five goals. This means that more than half of Birkirkara goals have been scored by these two players. Cain Attard, Marcelo Henrique and Petar Orlandic follow with two goals each.
The earliest goal was scored after just ten minutes by Petar Orlandic on Matchday 12, played on Friday, 7 December, in the 2-1 victory against Qormi FC. On the other hand, Jake Grech scored the latest goal on the fourth minute of added time of the second half on Matchday 4, played on Sunday, 23 September, in the 2-0 victory against Floriana FC.
Goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski and defender Eduardo Dos Santos are the only two players that have started all thirteen matches. Jake Grech has also featured in all matches of the first round, but he was included three times as a substitute.
Edward Herrera is the most utilised substitute, as he was included eight times, followed by Myles Beerman with seven times included as a substitute.
