Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. Naxxar Lions FC

Birkirkara FC will take on Naxxar Lions FC in the BOV Premier League this afternoon. The Stripes have the opportunity to climb to the third place if they manage to register their seventh consecutive victory in this league campaign.
The Stripes extended their winning streak to six consecutive matches last weekend, when they registered their biggest league victory so far after defeating Senglea Athletic FC with a comfortable 5-0 score.
With Gzira United FC dropping another two precious points, the Stripes will have the perfect opportunity to climb to the third place, joining the Maroons with thirty-four points. Hibernians will also join the third place, if they win their match against Mosta FC.
However, Birkirkara's task is anything than easy as today's opponents, Naxxar Lions are enjoying a brilliant form. The Lions revamped their squad, aided by the appointment of new Coach Oliver Spiteri.
In fact, they have lost just one match from their last four matches, that included draws against Balzan FC and Sliema Wanderers FC. In their last match, they registered a comfortable 4-0 victory over Lija Athletic FC.
Birkirkara's latest signing, forward Ognjen Rolovic is eligible for selection but Edward Herrera is suspended, after collecting four yellow cards.
The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 16:15. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 15:00.
