Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. Mosta FC
by Ayrton Galea - 13th January 2018Buoyed by their latest satisfactory results, Birkirkara FC will be fancying their chances of registering their fifth straight victory in the BOV Premier League when take on Mosta FC tomorrow afternoon.
The Stripes served up another notice of their brilliant late form when with an impressive display, they scored two goals in each half to defeat Gzira United FC with a comfortable 4-0 score, courtesy to a brace each by Luke Montebello and Jake Grech.
The fourth consecutive victory in the league chalked-up by the Stripes saw them lifting to the fifth place as they are currently sharing this spot with no less than three teams namely Hibernians, Hamrun Spartans and Sliema Wanderers. However, the Stripes and Hibernians have a game in hand.
On the other hand, Mosta also registered a very comfortable victory last weekend, as they defeated bottom-placed Lija Athletic FC with a 5-1 score. Mosta are sharing the tenth place with Senglea Athletic, but the Blues have a game in hand.
Coach Paul Zammit will welcome back defenders Cain Attard and Nikola Vukanac who will return following a one-match ban, but Ryan Scicluna is ruled-out suspended. Midfielder Matthew Guillaumier is still ruled-out injured but he is in the last process of his recovery.
In the first-round match, Birkirkara came out victorious with a 2-0 score in what was the first match back in charge for Coach Paul Zammit.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 14:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 12:45.
