Coach Tedesco enthusiastic about his debut
by Ayrton Galea - 2nd July 2015Club's Head Coach Giovanni Tedesco has expressed his enthusiasm about his debut with Birkirkara FC, in such an important competition as the UEFA Europa League. He said this during a press-conference in view of today's match from the first qualifying round against Ulisses FC.
Taking over the team's helm in the first day of June, Mr. Tedesco will be making his official debut tonight and the Italian coach sounded enthusiastic, when he said, “It's normal that there is a bit of emotion ahead of my debut as coach in an important competition like the UEFA Europa League.”
“There is also a bit of curiosity to see how the team will react after only 15 days of work. As for the game, we are playing against a valid team but I'm convinced that I have a very good squad and I'm confident that we will have a good game.”
Coach Tedesco said “Ulisses are a very well-structured team and they are a very physical side. Their level is good, we have studied them well and we know we are facing a tough team. However, despite that this fact cannot be ignored, we also have a great structure, and we have seven, or eight players forming part of the National Team and that is a very positive sign.”
The Club's three signings during this Summer Transfer Market, Vito Plut, Fabrizio Miccoli and Edin Murga are all available for tomorrow's match. On the other hand, Rafael Ledesma, Gareth Sciberras, Ryan Scicluna and Shola Shodiya are ruled-out injured. Edward Herrera is also unavailable for this match due to personal matters.
Coach Tedesco said, “Miccoli has integrated well with the squad, and that is very important, as beyond the football aspects, it's important to have a group of real men.”
Newly appointed team manager, Mr. Michael Valenzia, said, “The squad has been training together for the last ten days. We don't know much about Ulisses but we are expecting a difficult match.”
“We know that if we qualify, we will be probably facing West Ham United FC. The players and staff are very looking forward to this possibility. However, first we are concentrating and preparing in the best way possible for the game”
