Thanks to a thrilling show of determination and will to succeed, Birkirkara have managed to register a famous 3-0 victory over title contenders Sliema Wanderers.

The special thing about the story of the game, is that all of our team's three goals were scored between the 23rd and 26th minute of the match. Yes you read right, three goals in three minutes!

Prior to the match, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, playing his first competitive match against his ex-team Birkirkara, gave a bouquet of flowers to his ex-supporters who were always there to support him throughout his stay with our club.

Birkirkara started showing their clear intentions of getting their hands on all three points from the very first minute, and it wasn't too long before a cross from the left found an unmarked Sylvano Comvalius who headed wide from a favourable position.

A few seconds later, it was Sliema's turn to be dangerous, as Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was served in the box, before chipping the ball over Jorge Mora, with the ball ending wide of goal.

A low cross from the left, found captain Michael Galea whose shot seemed destined into the net, however Sliema keeper Simon Agius did just enough to deny the Birkirkara veteran.

The all-important three minutes of the match commenced with Sean Bajada serving Trevor Cilia, who from just inside the penalty area, put the ball in the lower-left corner of Agius' goal to score Birkirkara's opener.

Scorer turned provider, as from the right flank, Trevor Cilia crossed to the far post, where he found an unmarked Michael Galea ready to put the 'Stripes' supporters into raptures, and so he did, as Birkirkara's best ever top scorer beat Agius with his head.

With the 'Wanderers' still shell shocked and not believing their eyes, George Mallia served Sylvano Comvalius who headed-in yet another goal before making his run towards the bench to cheer with Mr.Paul Zammit and the rest of his team mates.

The first half interval was the ideal time for the Birkirkara supporters to re-gain their voices following such an amazing first half by their club at heart.

In the second half, our team played a more cautious game, and much to the disbelief of the few Sliema W. supporters present for this match, their team failed to make any sort of reaction.

In the last few minutes of the match, Birkirkara had two good opportunities to add to Sliema's woes through Trevor Cilia and Alan Tabone, which failed to materialize.

As soon as the final whistle arrived, the Birkirkara FC squad made its way to the dugouts accompanied by a standing ovation by the brave Birkirkara Ultras and supporters who challenged the cold weather to give their full support to our boys.

Well Done Yellows!
