George Mallia was born on the 10 October, 1978 and without doubt he is one of the players that he will be remembered for his loyalty towards Birkirkara FC.

George made his debut in the Premier League with Sliema Wanderers in the 1995-1996 season where in this season Sliema won the champions for the 23rd time. George stayed with Sliema Wanderers till the 1997-1998 Season before he joined Floriana. In his spell with Sliema Wanderers, George made 30 appearances and managed to score 11 goals.

With Floriana he spent four seasons. In the 1998-1999 Season he made 17 appearances and managed to score three goals. In the following season he had 16 appearances and found the net twice. In his third season with ‘The Greens', George made no less than 25 appearances and he managed to score twice. In his last season playing for Floriana, George made 26 appearances and for the third consecutive season he scored two goals. With Floriana, George made 84 appearances and managed to score nine goals, all in the Premier League.

In Summer 2002, George was attracting the interest of several clubs but finally it was Birkirkara FC to sign George Mallia.

With ‘The Stripes' George won all the major honours as he won two Premier League titles, three FA Trophies, four Super Cups, two Euro Challenge Cups, and two Super 5 Cups.

The first season with Birkirkara was a positive one for George. He celebrated his first honour with Birkirkara as they won their second U*BET FA Trophy, and the first one for George. Few days later, George won his second honour as Birkirkara clinched the Super Cup as well. In the Premier League he made 26 appearances and managed to score eight goals.

The following season was another positive for Mallia where in the Premier League he made 17 appearances and managed to find the net on three occasions. In this season, Mallia won the Lowenbrau Cup for the first time with ‘The Stripes'.

Just a few days before the opening of the 2004-2005 Premier League, Birkirkara won their third consecutive Super Cup. In mid-December, ‘The Stripes' won another honour as they clinched the Super 5 Cup. After losing the Championship for just two points, Birkirkara bounced back by winning their third FA Trophy and the second one for George.

The 2005-2006 season was one of the most positive both for George and the Club. Birkirkara opened the season on a very positive point as in the Super Cup they emerged as winners with Etienne Barbara scoring a hat-trick. In the previous three seasons Birkirkara lost the title for a few points. Many thought that history would repeat itself but Birkirkara had other plans as they were crowned the new champions of Malta, which was the first Championship for George with Birkirkara and the second one for himself. In the Premier League he made 22 appearances and managed to score 4 goals.

If the 2005-2006 season was a positive one, the 2006-2007 was the opposite. Birkirkara disappointed and failed to defend their title and they ended in the third position. However, for George it was a positive season on a personal note, as he made 27 appearances in the Premier League and scored three goals.

After a disappointing 2006-2007 season, Birkirkara bounced back in the following season where Birkirkara won their fourth FA Trophy and the third one for George with Birkirkara. In the semi-final of the trophy which was played on the 20th May 2008, Birkirkara faced Valletta and eliminated them in style as they won the match with a 4-2 score. George Mallia scored the most beautiful goal in his career when he won the ball in the middle of the field, advanced forward, rounded no less than four players before his shot beat Andrew Hogg to make the score 4-1.

In the Premier League of the same season, ‘The Stripes' ended in the third place. George made 25 appearances and he started 24 matches and was included as substitute once.

Season 2008-2009 was quite a disappointing one. The season opened on a positive note as Birkirkara won the Euro Challenge Cup but the league campaign and the performances were rather disappointing. In the Premier League, he appeared in all the 28 matches and he started all of them from the beginning. He scored four goals.

The following season was another very positive season for ‘The Stripes' but not for George as he suffered an injury which ruled him out for several matches. Birkirkara unexpectedly were crowned once again Champions of Malta. In the Premier League George made 17 appearances and he started the match 12 times, while he was utilised as a substitute five times. In the Premier League he found the net four times and he was voted the man of the match once.

In the 2010 Summer, George opted for a new adventured and he joined his home town's club of Qormi FC.
