Andrew Scicluna was born on 17 June 1990. He is considered to be one of the best central defenders that our nursery produced.

Andrew made his debut with the First Team in Season 2008-2009 but he only had one appearance in that season.

The 2009-2010 season was a total different story as he established himself as one of best promising youngsters and at the age of 19 he managed to have 8 appearances in the Premier League. He started the match four times while he was included as a substitute another four times.

One should say that although Andrew was utilised once in the 2008-2009 season, his proper debut arrived in the 1st round of the Europa League against Slaven Belupo. Slaven defeated Birkirkara with a solitary goal but Andrew's performance was one to remember and his defensive skills were instrumental in this match.

This story repeated itself one week later, in the second leg. Andrew was one of the best players in the pitch and his solid performance helped ‘The Stripes' in no small way to achieve a goal-less draw at home. However this result was not enough as the Croatians advanced with an aggregate of 1-0.

These two performances were enough to prove Andrew's skills and class. This was confirmed in every match he was utilised.

The big event in his career had yet to came and on Friday 30 April, Birkirkara were declared the new champions of the Maltese football for the third time. On Wednesday 5 May ‘The Stripes' were presented with the deserved cup. Without any doubt it was a season for all the Birkirkara squad to remember, but even more so for Andrew Scicluna, who won the Premier League at only 19 years of age.

In the 2010-2011 season, Andrew was loaned out to Mqabba F.C. where he had another successful spell as Mqabba were promoted to the Premier Division.

Having gained more match experience, Andrew returned to Birkirkara FC in the summer of 2011.
