Simon Zahra was born on 26 July 1984 and he signed on as an amateur player mid-September 2010 with Birkirkara FC.

Simon is a Maltese-Australian with dual citizenship and he is considered as a utility player with has a good vision of the game and a powerful shot.

In the 2009-2010 season, he was playing for the Australian side 'Blacktown Spartans' and he managed to score no less than six goals.

In the final days of the 2010 pre-season, Simon Zahra was training with Birkirkara. He was included in the starting line-up of the last friendly match of the 2010-2011 pre-season, against Melita. Birkirkara beat the 1st Division side with a 3-2 result.

Simon left a good impression with the Technical Team and they decided to offer him the opportunity to play for 'The Stripes'.

Without any doubt, Simon had a very successful debut in the local league, when Birkirkara FC managed to trounce Sliema Wanderers FC with an impressive 4-1 win.

Although Simon has Maltese parents and holds a Maltese passport, he is not considered as a Maltese player by Malta Football Association as he is not "home-grown".

Birkirkara FC had five other foreigners on its books, out of which only four can play at the same time. This meant that Simon could not feature regularly in the squad.

In view of all this, Simon decided to return to his native city of Sydney, Australia, just in time to make it to the Australian pre-season, where he is set to join a new team.

Simon was released by Birkirkara FC on 21 February 2011.

With 'The Stripes' Simon made eleven appearances, with six of them being included in the first eleven.
