Match Preview: Hibernians FC vs. Birkirkara FC
by Ayrton Galea - 5th October 2019Birkirkara FC will be searching their first victory in the BOV Premier League this afternoon when they take on Hibernians FC in a match that will be played at the National Stadium (Kick-Off - 17:00).
Few would have believed prior to the start of the season that the Stripes would be still searching for the first victory after five matches, but two defeats and three consecutive draws have left the Stripes frustrated in an unexpected low place in the league table.
The appointment of Coach Andre Paus seems to inject their engines as, despite three draws, the Stripes are showing positive signs of their true potential that look promising for the rest and most important part of the season.
Their best performance has in fact arrived in their last match in a 2-2 draw against defending-champions Valletta FC. They forced their way back in the match twice and they enjoyed an edge over their opponents which probably merited them more than just a point.
With twelve points lost in the opening five matches, today's match could be the right opportunity to start gaining places in the table. In fact, only a win would satisfy the Stripes' needs to lift themselves from the bottom positions.
However, their task is anything than easy as Hibernians FC are one point from the top place with ten points won from five matches. They are coming from two consecutive victories against Senglea Athletic FC and Mosta FC with an identical 2-1 score.
Their attacking force saw them scoring ten goals in five matches, the second-best after Hamrun Spartans FC who scored twelve. On the other hand, they conceded six goals, two less than the Stripes.
