Caio Rocha - The newcomer leaving his mark in Maltese football
by Ayrton Galea - 3rd October 2019Caio Rocha, one of the newcomers to Maltese football this season, is quickly leaving his mark as the rapid-winger has produced some electrifying performances that have caught the eye of all Maltese football followers.
The signing of the twenty-four-year-old forward might have brought little expectations as only few information was known about his prior his move to Malta, but the former Inter Ibiza CD has enjoyed a very powerful start in his adventure with our club.
His last two performances were outstanding and he has been voted the BOV Player of the Match in both matches. In particular, his last match against Valletta FC was an exceptional one, as he scored his first goal and won a crucial penalty in the second half.
From quite a new figure to Maltese football, the name of Caio Rocha is among all the supporters as certainly that he has impressed. Caio opened by showing his recognition to the Stripes' faithful. "I'm very glad that my name is among the majority of the Birkirkara supporters. What struck the most in this club has been the treatment I received since I arrived. The club has treated me so well even though no one has known me before."
"I joined Birkirkara because it was the club that gave me the opportunity to return to playing football professionally, I am very grateful for this opportunity that the board gave me. Honestly, I had not heard on Birkirkara FC before but when I learned that I was coming to play here, I researched a lot on the internet and saw that it is a big club in Malta."
The performances of Rocha has certainly stolen the limelight following a very powerful start. "I was always very committed in what I do. I consider myself very professional and I put everything in what I do. There are times where I can't even sleep at a disappointing training session or performance. However, I always try to get back stronger. I was getting my confidence little by little and I'm satisfied that my true potential is being shown."
Boosted by his five-star display, the Stripes might have deserved more than just a point from the last match. Caio opened by saying, "It was disappointing not to take the three points from the last match. We played a very intensive match and created several scoring chances as we enjoyed an in-general strong performance. I believe that it was not just the last match that we deserved the three points, but during these first five matches, there were several factors that prevented us from winning."
Despite their satisfactory display, the Stripes are still searching for the first victory in the BOV Premier League and they will be all-out to make that happen next Saturday when they take on Hibernians FC. "The fact that we are still to win it's motivational and not as additional pressure. We are preparing well as we are having another great week of training. We are motivated to have a great game and to do our utmost effort to have the performance that we aspire to have to win the first match."
