Guillaumier: I am happy to be here
by Ayrton Galea - 24th January 2019Birkirkara FC midfielder, Matthew Guillaumier, who has established himself as one of the most consistent players this season, feels happy to be with our club and he looks forward to stay for years to come.
Has won a regular place this season, the Under-21's National Team player, has stolen the lime-light with his top-level performances. He grabbed the headlines again last Friday in the match against Pieta' Hotspurs FC, when he put his name on the scoring-sheet and was voted the BOV Player of the Match.
Following a string of excellent performances, Guillaumier provided an interesting interview on several subjects, including his future with Birkirkara FC.
On the last match against Pieta' Hotspurs FC..
I think we played well by creating opportunities to score, which we took, and not letting Pieta play comfortably by constantly pressing in the right areas.
On voted the Man of the Match for the first time..
I am very happy to have been voted as Man of the Match and also scoring, but it is just a bonus because the most important thing is winning and getting 3 points to continue climbing up the table.
On the upcoming FA Trophy fourth round match vs. Hamrun Spartans FC..
It is an important game which we need to be focused and ready for, I am very excited for it. The FA Trophy is an important competition which we are going to compete for because that is always our objective.
On the Sporting Director, John Arne Riise..
I am very grateful and lucky to be working with someone who has played at the highest level for many years and look forward to learn a lot from him in order to improve as a player, whilst also helping the team try win every game.
On his experience with Birkirkara FC so far and his future with the club..
These past three years with Birkirkara have been full of ups and downs, but overall I am pleased and happy here. I am happy to be here and remain with this great club for years to come unless an opportunity to play abroad arises.
A message to the supporters..
I would like to thank them for the continuous support and encourage them to continue doing so through thick and thin because they are the 12th player on match-day. We are working every-day to bring trophies back to Birkirkara in the near future so we can celebrate together.
