Women: Birkirkara FC 3-1 Mgarr United FC
by Ayrton Galea - 17th April 2018Birkirkara FC Women's Team made sure to head into next week's title showdown against Hibernians FC with a one-point advantage, as they came from behind to defeat Mgarr United FC with a 3-1 score.
Mgarr United surged ahead after just three minutes thanks to Rebecca D'Agostino. However, Agostino's goal served as a wake-up call for the Stripes who turned the score in their favour in the following ten minutes thanks to a goal each by Tracy Teuma and Stephania Farrugia.
The Stripes made sure of the three precious points four minutes from time when they scored the third goal. A long ball by Farrugia in the path of Veronique Mifsud saw the latter anticipating the on-rushing goalkeeper and placed the ball at the back of the net.
