YFA uphelds Birkirkara FC Youth Academy's protest

The Youth Football Association has upheld Birkirkara FC's Youth Academy protest about the Under-17's League - Section A match, between Birkirkara FC and Hamrun Spartans FC.

During the match the referee sent off Birkirkara's keeper for using foul language, after he was blocked from continuing play by a Hamrun player. After also sending off the Hamrun player for retaliation, the referee then ordered play to continue with the taking of a penalty kick against Birkirkara. Birkirkara protested that according to the laws of the game, an indirect free-kick should have been ordered and not a penalty-kick, and this constituted a technical mistake. The Protest Board of the Youth FA upheld Birkirkara's protest, and ordered the match to be re-played.

The Youth FA is expected to announce the date when the match will be re-played in the coming days.
