Under-17's Team register winning start

Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team registered their first victory in the Under-17's League Section A, when they defeated Mosta FC with a comfortable 3-0 score.

The Stripes started well and went close to open the score when Glenn Attard's header from a Harley Bugeja corner kick was cleared off the goal line.

Birkirkara kept pushing and broke the deadlock on the eighteenth minute. Glenn Attard's through ball was controlled by Paul Mbong who rounded goalkeeper Dylan Ciappara and placed the ball in an empty net.

The Stripes doubled the score six minutes later as Sebastian Grech's powerful left-footed volley gave Ciappara no chance to intervene.

Birkirkara kept the momentum going and managed to score a gem of a goal as Paul Mbong engaged in a dual with a Mosta defender and chipped the ball over the Mosta custodian for his personal second and Birkirkara's third.

In the opening minutes of the second half Mosta were awarded a penalty as Luke Formosa was floored inside the penalty area. Matteo Vella took responsibility from the penalty spot but his left-footed shot was neutralised by Amara Sylla to keep the score unchanged.

The Stripes controlled the game and had a couple of chances to increase the score. Luca Ganado's effort went inches wide while Carlo Zammit Lonardelli's conclusion was saved by Ciappara.
