Stripes, Kirkop United in Women's KO final
by Ayrton Galea - 17th May 2017Newly crowned Champions Birkirkara FC and Kirkop United FC, finalists for the first time in their history, will be going head to head in the Women's Knock-Out final this evening (Centenary Stadium – 20:00).
The Stripes are still fresh from winning their sixth BOV Women's First Division League title, following a superb league campaign as they remained unbeaten. On the other hand, Kirkop United finished in the fourth place, which was another remarkable achievement, as this was their highest position in history.
Both teams proved their excellent late form to reach the final. Birkirkara outclassed holders Hibernians with a comfortable 4-0 score while Kirkop United scored a goal in each half to defeat Mgarr United with a 2-0 score.
The Stripes will have the chance to win this competition for a record thirteenth time, while Kirkop United will be seeking to round off a memorable season with their first cup in history.
We would like to encourage all the Birkirkara Supporters to come to the stadium and support the Women's Team.
Come on the Stripes!
