Under-17's Team edge Valletta to regain sole leadership
by Ayrton Galea - 19th December 2016Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team scored a goal in each half thanks to Briam Mifsud and Sebastian Grech to defeat Valletta FC with a 2-0 score and regain sole leadership in the APS Bank Under-17's League Section A.
The Stripes were the better side throughout the eighty minutes of play and created various goal scoring opportunities in both halves. Birkirkara took the lead in mid-way through the first-half when Briam Mifsud headed past the Valletta goalkeeper a Carlo Zammit Lonardelli corner kick.
In the second half Valletta upped their game but the clear chances fell again in Birkirkara's way. Paul Mbong was unlucky to hit the foot of the post on the sixty-second minute. Sebastian Grech put the game beyond Valletta's reach seven minutes from time when he managed to slot the ball past the Valletta custodian following some neat combination play by the Stripes.
