Birkirkara FC Women's Team registered the second victory in the BOV Women's First Division League when they saw off the decent challenge of Raiders FC and defeated them with a 3-0 score thanks to a brace of Kim Parnis and another goal by Ann-Marie Said.

The Stripes returned to action following the commitments of the Girls' Under-17's National Team and they continued where they left behind in the previous match, after they had comfortably defeated Kirkop United with a 4-0 score, when they secured the second victory in the league.

Birkirkara enjoyed more possession for long stretches but struggled at times to break the Raiders' resilient defence but following a narrow lead till the break, two goals in quick succession in the second half put the Stripes minds at rest of the victory.

Coach Shawn Meilak had the luxury of a full-squad available as Raina Giusti returned following a one-match ban. She regained a first-eleven place by replacing Sonia Schembri while in the other change, Simone Buttigieg replaced Cassie Camilleri.

After the Stripes went close with a header ending over by Ann-Marie Said and Kelly Agius was unlucky to hit the post, they surged ahead on the eighteenth minute. A deflection by the Raiders defender off a free-kick by Gabriella Zahra was blocked by goalkeeper Jodie Attard and from the rebound, Kim Parnis hit home from inside the box.

The Stripes doubled the score eleven minutes inside the second half. A corner kick by Leanne Micallef, who went on as a second-half substitute, saw Ann-Marie reaching the ball before goalkeeper Attard to deflect the ball into the net. This was the first official goal for Said with our Club.

Two became three two minutes later in a very identical action. It was another well accurate corner kick that saw the ball deflected by a defender to reach Kim Parnis on the second post and she stayed cool to fire a volley home for her second personal goal and to seal the issue.

Birkirkara will be involved in the next league match next Wednesday 26 October against Hibernians where an early sole leadership will be at stake. The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 20:15.
