Stephania Farrugia clinches BOV Women's League Best Player
by Ayrton Galea - 20th May 2016Women's Team Captain has been crowned for an excellent season thanks to her solid-rock performances at the heart of the defence as she has been awarded the BOV Women's League Best Player during the MFA Awards 2016. This is Stephania's first time to win this prestigious award.
It has certainly been a season to remember for the twenty-four year old defender. Despite the Stripes failed to win any honours, Stephania has enjoyed a wipe-out in the personal awards during this year following her five-star performance.
Stephania, who joined our Club at a young age, was voted the BOV Player of the Month for January, February, April and May while she was voted the Best MFPA Female Player earlier this month. These awards, including the prestigious award won yesterday have all been her first during her football career.
During this season, Stephania was one of the five players that have played the most number of matches, 22, and despite playing in a defensive role, she found the net six times. Her skills weren't only clear to show in defence as in Birkirkara's match against Raiders FC, Stephania kept her cool under the pressure of the more organised opponents, Raiders, and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory.
We would like to congratulate Stephania for a brilliant season!
