Birkirkara FC Women's Team consolidated the second place in the BOV Women's First Division League yesterday evening, when two goals in the opening thirty minutes thanks to a wonderful strike by Mariah Sciberras and a penalty hit home by Stephania Farrugia handed them a 2-0 victory over Kirkop United FC.

In a match characterized by the strong winds that hit our island yesterday evening, the Stripes opened a two-goal lead in the opening thirty minutes while they dominated and comfortably held to their lead in the second half.

The Stripes surged ahead on the thirty-second minute. Raina Giusti served Kelly Agius Pace who showed great thinking by letting the ball passing between her legs as the ball reached Mariah Sciberras who unleashed a powerful strike from around thirty-five minutes past goalkeeper Costantino.

Birkirkara were quick to double their lead just after five minutes. Kelly Agius Pace was brought down inside the box and the referee ordered the penalty. Stephania Farrugia took responsibility and made no mistake from the spot.

Coach Mr. Jean Pierre Portanier handed the debut to another two players forming part of the Under-16's Team as team's captain Giulia Micallef and Nicole Zammit were included late in the second half.

Thanks to this victory, the Stripes narrowed the gap with Hibernians to nine points who were involved in a 1-1 draw against Mgarr United. The Stripes also increased their lead to eighth points over Mgarr United before facing them in next week's match.
