Birkirkara face bottom placed St Andrews
by Ayrton Galea - 27th January 2016Birkirkara FC are in an upbeat mood after four consecutive victories in the BOV Premier League, and they will start as favourites to make them five in a row when they take on bottom-placed St. Andrew's FC this evening.
The Stripes are going through a positive run as they registered their fourth league consecutive victory last Saturday, when with a dominant performance, they defeated Sliema Wanderers with a 2-0 score. This victory came after they registered a priceless victory mid-week when they eliminated Valletta with a 1-0 score on Wednesday in the fourth round of the FA Trophy.
Today's match could be the perfect opportunity to narrow the gap with front-duo. Presently, Valletta are with forty-four points, one point over Hibernians and six over Birkirkara. Therefore, a win for the Stripes would narrow the gap with leaders Valletta to three points while building a comfortable six-point cushion over fourth-placed Floriana.
On the other hand, St. Andrew's will be all-out seeking their first points this season. They have lost all their eighteen league matches, and despite brining in a number of new foreigner players, they still ended-up on the losing side in their last outing as they were defeated with a 5-1 score against Balzan.
In the first-round match, Birkirkara had secured a 4-0 victory thanks to a brace by Fabrizio Miccoli and a goal each by Ellinton Morais and Vito Plut.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 18:00.
Come on the Stripes!
