Mr. Drazen Besek appointed as Club's Head Coach
by Ivan Mizzi - 29th December 2015Birkirkara FC have appointed Mr. Drazen Besek as the Club's Head Coach. Mr. Besek, who hails from Croatia, has signed a contract with our Club, till the end of the season, and he will be holding his first training session this evening.
Mr. Besek was born on the 10 March 1963, and the fifty-two year Coach was last guiding Croatian's Club Osijek in the country's top division. He had started his coaching career with the Croatian club Varteks, in 1998 and he went on to guide another two Croatian clubs, Cakovec and Slaven Belupo.
He also enjoyed positive spells outside Croatia as he was at the helm of Zaglebie Lubin in Poland, Drava Ptuj in Slovenia and Shanghai Shenhua, Hunan Billows, Wuhan Zall and Tianjin Quanjian in China before moving back to Croatia to guide Osijek. In 2011, he was the assistant Coach of the China Under-23's National Team.
Mr. Drazen Besek will be taking over the Club's Senior term after the Club parted ways with Mr. Giovanni Tedesco in the second week of December. Mr. Josef Mansueto, who will stay on as an assistant coach, guided the team in the last two matches, where the Stripes emerged as winners with identical 3-0 wins, against Pembroke Athleta and Mosta respectively.
Besides Mr. Besek, Mr.Darko Stanekovic has been appointed as the new goalkeeper's coach while Mr. Nicholas Jaro has been appointed as the new physical trainer.
