Women's Team to face Raiders in tricky test
by Ayrton Galea - 1st December 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be back in action this evening, following a break for the National Team commitments, when they face Raiders FC.
The Stripes are going through a positive patch in the BOV Women's First Division League, as they have taken maximum points from their last four outings. They are currently occupying the second place in, just three points under leaders Hibernians, while they have opened a seven-point lead over Mgarr United and Kirkop United respectively, with the latter having played a game more.
Birkirkara's 2-1 victory against Raiders set the wheels in motion, for three outstanding victories that saw them scoring fourteen goals and conceding just one. They won over Mgarr United with a 5-1 score, against Kirkop United with a 5-0 score, and then against Pembroke Athleta with a 4-0 score in their last outing.
On the other hand, Raiders are in the fifth position laying just two points over bottom-placed Pembroke Athleta. They have three points from three draws, following the first six matches. Following back-to-back draws against Pembroke Athleta and Kirkop United respectively, their satisfactory performance in their last match still saw them walking out empty-handed as they lost with a 4-1 score against Hibernians.
Despite their slow start, there are no doubts about the squad's potential and the 1-1 draw against Mgarr United was an indication of the team's strength this season, and therefore this evening's match is rated as a tricky task for the Stripes who will be seeking to extend their winning streak to five matches.
The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and it scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
Come on the Stripes!
