Women's team take on Pembroke in league's first match

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be raising the curtain on the BOV Women's First Division League this evening, when they take on Pembroke Athleta FC.
Birkirkara will be seeking to build-on last year's second place but their challenge will be anything but plain-sailing as Mgarr United, Raiders and Kirkop United will all be aspiring to make it to the top three in the standings with Hibernians seeking to retain the title as they start title favourites.
This year's league format should offer more balanced matches. The teams are now split in two divisions with the first division consisting of four rounds where the six teams will be playing twenty games each. The winner will qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League while the last team will be relegated and the fifth team will be in a play-off with the second team of the second division.
The match will be played at the Luxol Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
