Stripes face Hibs in BOV Women's Super Cup
by Ayrton Galea - 22nd September 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team will lift the curtains on the 2015-2016 season this evening when in the BOV Women's Super Cup Final they will play against champions Hibernians FC.
The Stripes are considered to start as the underdogs in this match, as they are going through a transition period, having appointed Mr. Jean Pierre Portanier as the new coach this summer.
However, they were one of the most active teams by signing new four players. Isabelle Mazzitelli is back for the Stripes on a permanent move, while Oriana Bedingfield joined our Club on loan from Kirkop United. The Stripes also acquired the service of two foreigners, Heidi Kjaer and Catherine Campbelle.
On the other hand, Hibernians are in a buoyant mood following a successful season in which they won all honour in Women's football and wrote a new page in Maltese Football by winning the first point in the UEFA Women's Champions League thanks to a 3-3 draw.
Birkirkara will have to wait for last minute fitness tests to confirm the availability of Alishia Sultana, Kim Parnis, Kirstie Vella, Maryrose Cardona and Raina Giusti who all are recovering from different injuries. Club's latest signing Catherine Campbelle should be available if all the papers arrive on time.
The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 19:30.
We would like to encourage you to come and support the Women's Team.
Come on the Stripes!
