Isabelle Mazzitelli back with the Stripes
by Ayrton Galea - 20th August 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team completed their first signing for season 2015-2016 season as Isabelle Mazzitelli joined our Club on a permanent transfer from Mgarr United FC.
Thirty-two year old Isabelle needs no introduction, having spent twelve years with our Club before joining Mgarr United for two seasons. She joined our Club in the season 2001-2002 and she won no less than eighteen cups. She won the league five times, the Knock-out nine times, and four times the Super Cup. She also took part in four different editions of the Women's UEFA Champions League.
Mazzitelli is most remembered for her goal in the added time of the last match of the 2012-2013 league, against Mosta, which was decisive in winning the league. During this season, the Stripes also won the Women's Knockout for a memorable double.
We spoke with Isabelle following her return with our Club, “I have many fond memories with Birkirkara and I felt that it was the right time to come back to the Club. That being said, I must say that I loved every minute of the two seasons that I spent with Mgarr United and for that I want to thank everyone at Mgarr United.”
She continued by saying, “Although 2 seasons passed since I left the Club, I feel like I never left. I feel very welcome by my teammates. One thing I did notice however is that there is a different vibe around the squad, and everyone seems happy and content.”
The experience of Mazzitelli will certainly be a significant boost for the Stripes when it comes for key-matches and the thirty-two year old utility player, said “Obviously my personal target is to earn a starting place in the squad. More importantly, I want to use my experience to help the team to bring the league back where it belongs!”
Finally, Isabelle concluded by saying, “I want to let our readers know that I am looking forward to the season, and I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead!”
We would like to welcome back Isabelle while wishing her all the best of luck in her adventure with our Club.
