Women's Team to face Mgarr

by Ayrton Galea - 3rd February 2015

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking their third win in the Championship Pool of the BOV Women's League, when they face Mgarr United FC on Tuesday evening.

The Stripes continued to impress as they have won the opening two matches of the Championship Pool. They defeated Kirkop United, and they are coming from a superb display to trash Pembroke Athleta with a 5-0 score.

Today's task is tricky for the Stripes, as Mgarr are joined in the third place with Raiders FC. The Greens have won eight matches, drew once and lost three matches. After suffering a 6-2 defeat, they recovered with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kirkop.

Birkirkara are joined-leaders with Hibernians and they will be seeking to keep marching on, before crossing swords against them in two weeks time. However, the Stripes have another two difficult hurdles to overcome as besides Mgarr, they will face Raiders next week.

The Stripes will be boosted with the return of Alishia Sultana, following a two-match suspension. Maryrose Cardona who was ruled-out injured in the last match, should also be available for selection.

Two second half goals paved the way for Birkirkara to a 2-0 victory in the first round match against Mgarr.

The match will be played at Mgarr Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
