Girls Under-16's lose to Hibernians
by Ayrton Galea - 1st February 2015Birkirkara FC Girls Under-16's Team conceded the second defeat in Section B of the Girls Under-16's League, when on Sunday morning, despite scoring an early goal, they lost with a 4-1 result against Hibernians FC.
In a balanced first-half, Birkirkara surged ahead after eight minutes thanks to Samantha Zarb's e fine strike from outside the box. However, four minutes from half-time, Hibernians equalised when a free-kick by Rodiana Borg was blocked by goalkeeper Anthea Enriquez, but the Hibernians player hit home from the rebound.
However, the second-half saw Hibernians being superior and they scored three goals. The Paolites turned the match around seven minutes into the second half when a shot from a diagonal angle hit past goalkeeper Enriquez. Hibs went on to score another two quick goals thanks to a shot from outside the box and a close-range strike from a corner kick to register a 4-1 victory.
