Inspirational Borg eager for his time to shine
by Ayrton Galea - 31st January 2015Antoine Borg is satisfied with his personal experience this season, and the optimistic twenty-year old believes that when his time comes, he will be ready to pounce on it. Borg said this during an interview just hours before the Stripes take on Sliema Wanderers.
Antoine Borg was a key-member of the squad that last season won the Youths League Section A title, and this season he has been promoted with the Senior Team.
With seven appearances under his belt, including a first-eleven start, Borg said, “I'm really happy with how my season is going. I'm getting a lot more playing time then last year. Obviously, I would like to play more, so that I can help the team, but I know my time will come, and when it does I will be there to take it.”
Last week, the Stripes conceded a last-gasp goal to be held in a 1-1 draw by Hibernians. Borg, who was not utilised in the match, had this to say about the match: “Last week, we showed our strength, and we were unlucky not to take the three points, but the league is far from over.”
Birkirkara will now face Sliema and Borg said, “We had another positive week of preparations. Like always, we studied our weaknesses, and worked hard to improve on them. Sliema are a good side, but we are Birkirkara. We worked very hard and we will go to the match to get three points and nothing less.”
Asked about the team spirit, Borg said, “The dressing room atmosphere is fantastic at the moment. We don't consider each other as team-mates, but as a family. We are a family that always looks out for each other.”
Asked about the Club's targets, Antoine, or It-Tikku, as he is affectionately called by his friends, said “Our Target is to win the league and the trophy. The title race for us is just getting started. There are still fifteen games left and it's not over until it's over. Regarding the FA Trophy, we want to win the trophy and till now we have showed how eager we are to win it, and this eagerness will continue in the remaining matches of the competition.”
Finally, Antoine concluded with a message to the supporters. “We thank you for your support in every game you come to watch us. We're doing our utmost to see you happy. Thanks once again for your continuous support through the good and bad moments.”
