Women's Team to face Pembroke
by Ayrton Galea - 12th January 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team has enjoyed some excellent matches, and they will be seeking to complete their first-round commitments with maximum points, when they take on Pembroke Athleta FC on Tuesday evening.
Eight consecutive victories in the BOV Women's League have left no doubts about the Women's Team qualities, and aspirations to challenge for the title. They are enjoying a three-point lead on their nearest rivals Hibernians, and eighth points over joint third-placed, Raiders and Mgarr United.
The Stripes' more is sky high, as they started the year on a positive note, by easily disposing of the challenge of Kirkop United with a 5-0 win, thanks to a brace each by Stephania Farrugia and Maryrose Cardona, and a goal by Kim Parnis.
The match against Pembroke might be considered as a routine task of extending their winning streak, but this season Pembroke have had some good matches, and registered some surprising results. Pembroke are in fifth place, just one point behind the joint third-placed, Raiders and Mgarr United. Following the 6-2 defeat to Raiders, they registered two satisfactory victories by beating Kirkop United 3-0, and Swieqi United 4-1 score in their last match.
Last Tuesday, the Stripes were boosted with the return of Rebecca Chircop and Kelly Agius Pace. After missing the last match, Tara Attard, should also be available for this match.
The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
Come on the Stripes!
