'I joined Birkirkara FC to improve my ability in football' - Tara Attard

For this week's interview we chose one of the youngest players that form part of the Women's Team, Tara Attard.

Tara, aged just sixteen years old, is a product of Kirkop United FC and the promising youngster joined our Club last September. She plays in a defending role and her skills have so far been rewarded with seven appearances.

The match of next Tuesday against Hibernians is considered as extremely important by Tara, and she appealed to the numerous supporters to turn up at the Luxol Stadium to support the Women's Team.

Who is Tara Attard?

My name is Tara Attard, I am 16 years old. I consider myself as a very outgoing person and also have a big passion for sports.

How do you spend your regular days?

I mostly spend my days at school and most of the evenings training football.

How do you spend your weekends?

During the weekend I try to spend most of the time with my family and friends. Sometimes I also have a league match on a Sunday morning.

What is your favourite kind of music?

I don't have a favourite type of music, as I like everything.

What is your favourite quote or motto?

My favourite quote would be to "Never give up".

Do you follow international football? If yes, which is your favourite nation when it comes to football, and which is your favourite club?

Yes, I follow the German National Team, and Bayern Munich as a club.

What are your main hobbies besides football?

My favourite hobbies would be anything that involves sports.

How did your love for football begin? At what age did you start playing football?

My passion for football began when I was 12 years old. My father used to coach a local football team, which I used to follow regularly and got instantly attached to the sport.

Are you still studying? If yes, how hard do you find it to balance school, football and personal life? How much sacrifice is involved?

Yes, I am still studying. The balance between the three is not that difficult because I have organised a schedule which helps me have enough time for everything.

It is well known that women's football in Malta has an amateur status, in the sense that players do not get paid. What do you think about this?

It doesn't effect me because I play the sport as a hobby.

Can you tell us a bit about your previous experiences?

I started football with Kirkop United where after a few months I was called up with the national team and had a few experiences abroad playing in international tournaments.

Why did you join our Club?

I joined Birkirkara F.C to improve my ability in football and to achieve my goals.

How is your adventure with our Club going?

Up till now I am very happy to be part of this team.

How do you describe the atmosphere in the dressing room? Can you mention a funny episode?

The atmosphere in the dressing room has a mixture of everything. With regards to a funny episode, I can't choose one in particular, because there are so many.

Who is your favourite team-mate?

I can't choose one in particular, because everybody is equal, since everybody treats me as part of the team.

How is your relationship with the Coach?

It can't be any better.

What are your comments on last Tuesday's victory?

They were very important three points, and as a match, in my opinion, we played very well.

Despite that the squad will be involved in another league match tonight, it's not a secret that the squad is already looking forward for the match against Hibernians. How important is the match against Hibernians?

It is an extremely important match due to the fact that it is a direct encounter.

What is your personal target for this season?

To win the league with Birkirkara F.C.

Do you have a message for the supporters?

We appreciate your support, and would really appreciate it against Hibernians F.C if we see a big number in the stands. It would give us more motivation to know that we have your support.
