Interview with Daniel Zerafa

by Ayrton Galea - 1st November 2013

For this week's interview the choice fell on one of the players that joined our club this year, Daniel Zerafa.

Daniel joined our Club in the last days of the Summer Transfer Market, and the promising youngster, is proving his skills every time he is introduced in a match.

Who is Daniel Zerafa?

I am nineteen years old from Bormla living in Zabbar. I have a shy character but once I get to know people I'm outgoing. I'm hard working and always with the will to reach my goals and I'm a bit sensitive.

How do you spend your regular day?

I attend MCAST school in the mornings and afternoon. After or before school, I do a session of gym or football with my father, then I go home and later go for training with the team.

How do you spend your weekends?

I train in the mornings, usually I have a match and after I go out with my friends.

What are your main hobbies besides football?

Watching TV and playing with my nephew.

What is your favourite food?

Pasta.

What is your favourite kind of music?

I like any type of music.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto?

Uno su mille c'e' la fa (One in a thousand will succeed).

What motivates you most in life?

Other people succeeding motivates me to reach my goals.

Do you follow international football? If yes, which is your favourite nation when it comes to football, and which is your favourite club?

Yes I do. My favourite national team is Brazil and as a club I support AC Milan.

Who is your favourite player? Why?

Kaka` because he has a nice character and I like the way he performs.

What is your biggest fear on the pitch?

Playing badly.

Can you tell us a bit about your experiences before joining our Club?

I spent most of my Premier League experience with Hamrun. It was a great experience, where I learnt the importance of football. When I scored a goal against Valletta I felt that I had made a certain step. My experiences with that football team motivate me to work harder with Birkirkara.

What is your most memorable match? Why?

Under 17's National team after I drew against Albania, and Under 19's when I scored the first goal for Malta against San Marino.

Why did you decide to join Birkirkara FC?

Because I consider it as one of the best teams on the island, and I like how Paul Zammit works.

How are you feeling with the Club? Have you settled in?

Slowly, slowly I am settling in.

How would you describe the atmosphere in the dressing room?

Very good, everyone has a good relationship with each other.

How difficult was it to adapt playing for a club whose target was to not be relegated, to a club who challenges for all honours?

It is quite hard and I have to work harder then I have before and I'm willing to do it.

Who is your best team mate?

All those players who are with me in the Under 21 national team because I know them a bit better.

What are your comments about the last match against Tarxien?

I started settling a bit more and I feel more confident. I was quite happy after the match because I felt that I played good, together with the team who is in good form.

How is the squad preparing for the next game against Floriana?

We're preparing well, and I hope we get the three points again.

What are your targets and the Club's targets for this season?

To challenge for every honour on the island.

Do you have a message for the supporters?

I am impressed with their support and I hope they keep supporting us throughout the season as it gives us the strength and courage.
