'We are out with our heads held up high' - Mr. Paul Zammit
by Ayrton Galea - 29th July 2013After Birkirkara FC was eliminated from the second round of the UEFA Champions League, the Head Coach gave the following comments in a press conference held at the Stadion Ljudski in Maribor.
“Regarding the game, we expected an aggressive Maribor and we were ready for what they tried to do.
“Especially in the first half, we were a little bit late in our pressing and that's why we had to suffer a little bit of possession. We conceded the goal, then we started to believe more and during half-time we changed our strategy but the goal that we conceded just few minutes in the second half just killed us a little bit, although we kept trying, we kept going forward because that was the only way.
“Taking the both legs, I am very happy with the boys. They worked so hard and although we are out today, I think we are out with our heads held up high.
“Maribor today are the winners and I wish them all the best of luck for their route into the Champions League.
“I must say this; we were treated very well, and I would like to thank you all. We hope that both teams will have their success this season. “
