Paul Fenech MFA Footballer of the Year
by Ayrton Galea - 15th June 2013Last night Birkirkara midfielder Paul Fenech crowned a superb season when he won the MFA Footballer of the Year award, for the first time in his career. Head Coach Mr. Paul Zammit was awarded as the best Coach of the Year, and Rowen Muscat won the Goal of the Year award during the MFA Awards 2013. The awards were presented on Friday night at the MFCC at Ta' Qali.
Paul Fenech was nominated with three of his fellow team-mates, Gareth Sciberras, Edward Herrera and Justin Haber, and Hibernians' Clayton Failla, to win the most prestigious individual award in Maltese Football.
The 26 year-old midfielder played a vital role in Birkirkara's success of winning their fourth league title.
Paul Fenech started his career with Naxxar Lions and played for Msida St Joseph before joining Birkirkara.
Birkirkara's Head Coach, Paul Zammit deservedly won the Best Coach award. Mr. Zammit contributed in no small way towards Birkirkara's success as he was the mind behind the team which clinched the title.
Rowen Muscat's goal was chosen as the best goal of the year. The goal was scored on 13 March 2013 in the match between Birkirkara and Mosta, which the Stripes won with a trashing 7-1 score. Rowen Muscat was included as a substitute in that match and he scored what was to be chosen as the best goal of the year on the 69th minute with a powerful-drive from long distance which left Mosta's goalkeeper helpless.
We would like to congratulate all three for their success.
