After giving up any hope of obtaining promotion to Section A, Birkirkara Under 15s found it hard to motivate themselves enough in order to stave off the challenge of St Patricks, thus allowing the Zabbar to beat them for the second time in two games this season. St Patricks deserved to win this match as they showed more desire, probably because they were playin at their home grounds. Brkirkara seemed to be a disjointed lot , and even though on paper they ought to have had the better of their opponents, they never looked capable of making any type of breakthrough in the locals' well organised defence.

Ironically, it was Birkirkara who tore out of the starting blocks as they forced e sequence of early corners and showed they were going to peg back St Patricks into their own third of the pitch, but this proved to be misleading. As the first half went on, the Zabbar side manage to organised themselves, leaving little space where to attack and also started to venture into the opposing half with more purpose. Still there was hardly anything to jot down with regards to goalscoring instances, and the half ended 0-0.

The half time team talk did not seem to have the desired effect as the abject performance continued in the second half. St Patricks started winning the midfield battle and it was no surprise when they took the lead when a through ball realeased one of their forwards. Birkirkara's reaction left much to be desired, as they rarely made the opposing goalkeeper sweat. The incisive pass was always erratic and the few times the YellowReds managed to conclude, their shots ended high or wide. The impression was that even if the game went on for the whole day, the score would have never been overturned, thus the feeling at the final whistle was an expected one, a sour defeat which did nothing to help raise the Birkirkara Clan's morale after missing out on promotion.

The last match of the season will be against Tarxien and will be played on Thursday 23rd May at the Rabat Grounds starting at 18:00.
