Football And Fun At The Life Celebration Festival
by Jonathan Spiteri - 21st February 2013During last weekend, Football and Fun were the order of the day at the Infetti training grounds as around 340 children from 14 different nurseries participated in the Life Celebration Festival, which is fastly becoming a fixture in the Nursery's calendar. This was the third edition, and it was falling on the 30th year anniversary since Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery was founded.
The Festival, which was free of charge, was open to four different age groups, with a total of 34 teams taking part. This means that the number of participants is increasing year after year, thus certifying the quality of its organisation. There were six teams in each of the Under 6 and Under 7 categories, ten teams in the Under 8 category while 12 teams completed the Under 9 age group. Due to the age of the children and also considering the nature of the Festival itself, it was deemed fit not to issue any results or classifications, and no individual awards were given out. All players though were presented with a commemorative medal.
Sunday was also characterised by the setting up of a Fun Park, which was only possible thanks to the collaboration of the Birkirkara Local Council. The Nursery would also like to show great appreciation for donations presented by Dr Michael Axiak, Mr Charlo Bonnici, Dr Chris Cardona and Dr Beppe Fenech Adami. Their genorosity was instrumental for the Festival to be held, and the ultimate beneficiaries were the kids, who undoubtedly had great fun, and the large crowds that were present at Infetti during the Festival weekend.
The Nursery would like to thank all those who took part, and especially all those who in some way or another landed a helping hand in the organisation and running of this event, which turned out to be another great success. See you all next year!
