Birkirkara drawn against Tarxien Rainbows

Birkirkara FC were drawn to play against Tarxien Rainbows in the third round of the U*BET FA Trophy. The draws were held during a press conference held today at the MFA's conference room at the Technical Centre, Ta' Qali.

Birkirkara, alongside Valletta, Balzan, Floriana, Hibernians and Sliema Wanderers who placed in the first six positions of the previous 2011-2012 Premier League were the only seeded clubs.

Mr. Mark Attard, from the MFA, began by welcoming the memebers of the media that were present, and he explained the aim of the press conference while welcoming the panel made up of Mr. Bjorn Vassallo the CEO of Malta Football Association and Mr. Vasileios Kasiotakis the General Director of Maltco Lotteries.

Mr. Bjorn Vassallo welcomed Mr. Vasileios Kasiotakis of Maltco Lotteries and thanked him for continuous support. He said that this is the 75th edition of the U*BET FA Trophy and that the Association will be doing the best possible for it be a memorable one. From the third round onwards, the competition will become more interesting and difficult, as the Premier League clubs enter the fray at this stage.

He continued by saying that this is a competition that from now on will be more interesting and a unique experience for clubs in inferior divisions, if they draw against bigger club, and it can be a good experience which can lead to some surprises. On the other hand, for the more established clubs, this is not an easy task as shown in last year, they had difficult matches probably much more then they expected.

Mr. Vassallo went on by explaining that the format which was introduced last year went down very well with all the clubs, and they had a very good competition and the MFA will be doing its best to repeat last year's success.

Finally he thanked Maltco Lotteries for their support to the Malta Football Association.

Mr. Vasileios Kasiotakis of Maltco Lotteries in his short speech said that they are happy that the competition will proceed to third round, and ensured their commitment with the Malta Football Assosication.
