Birkirkara U15 defeat Pembroke
by Jonathan Barbara - 30th September 2012Birkirkara U15s shattered Pembroke by slamming seven goals past the shell-shocked Athleta to secure an astonishing 7-1 victory at Rabat.
Birkirkara found it difficult to open the score in the first 15 minutes despite having a lot of the game, however two goals from Ryan Gauci and another from Kieran Xuereb opened the tally in the first half. This was the central component where Birkirkara established their clear superiority.
In the second half the Birkirkara youngsters continued to show their class. Nick Borg, Kieran Xuereb and a brace from substitute Gianluca Zammit added their names to the scoresheet.
Pembroke pulled one back in the second half from the rebound after goalkeeper Axel Mallia initially saved Pembroke's no. 10 penalty shot.
Following the match, Coach Charles Micallef was pleased with the result but most of all with the good performance and continuation. He praised the boys that they have played all as one unit and after using all substitutions the level of football was still very good. He said that he was happy to see a mixture of both dynamic and set piece goals and that this shows that all the players are playing according to instructions and tactical plan. Charles Micallef concluded by thanking all the players, most of all those who were not utilized during this game. He also thanked the committee members, parents, assistant coach John Vella and head coach Marko Glumac for their continuous support.
Birkirkara U15s will march on to face the threat posed by Zejtun on the 7th October at 17:00 at Santa Lucia Ground.
