Interview with Joselito Dos Reis Santos
by Ayrton Galea - 19th July 2012In this interview we wanted to introduce our Club's latest signing, the Brazilian utility player Joselito Dos Reis Santos who joined our Club in the beginning of July.
Tell us something about yourself
My name is Joselito Dos Reis Santos, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Itanhaém - São Paulo, Brazil. I don't like talking about myself as I prefer living my life and then let others judge my character.
What is your marital status? Are you married? Do you have kids?
I'm single and I do not have children. It's too early. (laughs)
How do you spend your regular day?
I do go to the gym in the morning and then prepare for the training sessions in the evening.
How do you spend your weekends?
If we have a game in the weekend, I try to rest and focus only on the game.
What are your main hobbies besides football?
Apart from football, I love going to the beach and hanging out with my friends and family.
What is your favourite food?
Lasagna.
What is your favourite kind of music?
As a good Brazilian, it is certainly samba and pagode. (laughs)
Do you have a role model? Who and why?
I don't have a role model, as such, but I have my father who was always by my side and supported me in football.
Do you have a favourite quote or motto?
My favorite quote is to never give up a dream, and my motto is God.
Do you follow international football? If yes, which is your favourite nation when it comes to football, and which is your favourite foreign Club?
My favourite country is Brazil and my favourite club is SC Palmeiras.
Who is your favourite player?
Cristiano Ronoaldo, Lionel Messi and Marcos the former goalkeeper of Palmeiras.
What is your biggest fear on the pitch?
I do not fear anything when I'm on the field. I pray to God that nobody gets hurt and I try to do my best.
Why did you decide to join Birkirkara FC?
An opportunity presented itself to leave Rio de Janeiro, and to come and play in Malta and I liked the idea. I like challenges and I am happy to play for Birkirkara FC.
Had you ever heard of Malta? Did you ever imagine you would be playing here?
I had heard of it a few times, but I never imagined I would be playing here.
Are you having communication problems? Is language being a big problem?
Yes I'm having a bit of difficulty with communication, but it won't be problem.
Who is your best team mate so far?
I don't have a best mate. I count on everyone, becase we are a team.
How are you feeling after your first few days with the Club? Have you settled in?
I'm still adapting, but I'm feeling good and I hope to improve with time.
What are your comments about the UEFA Europa League matches against FK Metalurg Skopje?
The best team on the field does not always win the match. We believe we played well until the end of the matches. We were warriors, and we knew the importance of the matches. We were eliminated with heads held high.
What are your targets for this season?
It's always important to win titles and this year with Birkirkara I want to write history, win titles, and score goals. I want to honour the shirt until the end.
Do you have a message for the supporters?
“It's hard to be an athlete.
It is difficult to train, train, train ... and realize that there is still a lot more!
It is difficult to face the opposing fans and it is even more difficult to face an injury.
It is difficult to breathe at certain times.
It is hard to lose! And it's also hard to win!
But for an athlete, only one thing is more difficult: not being an athlete.
Only an athlete knows his effort to achieve his goals ... and only he knows how difficult it is for someone to realise what he passes through to achieve them ...
...
His life is, and will always be, a competition, aiming to achieve and always doing his best.”
I hope that the supporters will stay with us always because they will be very important for each step we take. Thanks to all.
