Interview with Rowen Muscat

Following his first goal with our Club as part of the Senior Team, this week we decided to interview the team's Vice Captain, Rowen Muscat.
Tell us how you spend your typical day.
Usually I wake up early around 06:30, so that I have time for a good breakfast. Then I head off to work. In the afternoon I rest a bit to be in shape for training. After training I spend a couple of hours with my friends to wind down for the day, and then off to bed.
What are your main hobbies besides football?
Football apart, my hobbies are playing on the PlayStation, watching television and spending time with my friends.
Who were your football heroes when you were growing up? And who are your football heroes right now?
When I was younger I used to admire Giggs a lot, particularly for the discipline he used to exhibit on the pitch, and for his technique. These days I follow Iniesta, because apart from his speed he has a great vision of the game.
Do you agree that the role of a midfielder is the most difficult one as in many occasions the game is won or lost in the midfield?
In football there are 11 players in a team that are playing, and every position is really important. However, when playing as a midfielder, I think that you need a bit more of vision of the game, and a better physique since most of the ball possession happens there.
We know that you played almost in every role in football. However, if you had to choose, which role would you choose?
Every role on the pitch can be exciting, however my favourite is central midfielder.
What does it mean for you to be part of the National Team?
It is an honour in itself to form part of the National Team, let alone when you have an important role in the starting eleven.
Which was your favourite goal with the Under 21 National Squad?
Both goals I scored were really important, but I think the goal against Lithuania is my favourite, since we won the away match thanks to that goal.
Which was your most memorable performance with the Under 21 National Squad?
In the away match against Belgium, when I was just 17 years old. I had played the whole match, and we lost 1-0, from a penalty kick.
Who is your favourite team mate?
What do you think of the training sessions?
Training sessions are extremely important and you have to give your all, like you do in a match, because what you do in training you will repeat in a match
What are your comments on our last match?
I am disappointed with the result, but I am satisfied with our performance, especially in the first half, where there was a lot of positive factors.
In the last match, you scored your first goal ever with our Club as part of the Senior Team. What are your comments on this?
For me it is already an honour to be called with the starting eleven, and that I am given the opportunity to give my part, let alone that I have now started my goals tally with the Club.
The Club has lodged a protest over a technical mistake in the last match. If the protest is upheld, your goal will be void. What are your comments?
I prefer that we are given another chance at winning the game, then having a goal validated. Obviously, if we play again, I can have the opportunity to score again.
How should we approach the next match?
We are approaching every match with strong determination because we cannot drop more points at this stage.
Will the last match affect the team sprit in any way?
At the moment there is strong unity in the squad, and I think that nothing can destroy that team spirit that we have.
Despite still being one of the younger players, you were appointed as the team's Vice-captain. What are your comments?
It is a responsibility that you have to start preparing for since you are young. This role, apart from the game itself, helps you mature and to learn self-discipline.
What are your targets for this season?
Obviously, the first target is to win one of the major cups.
What are your plans or wishes for the future?
It is the wish of almost every player that at some stage plays abroad, and that is my wish for my future.
Do you have a message for the supporters?
I wish to tell them to never give up. With the talent and unity that we have in the team, we have good times laying ahead of us.
