Birkirkara to face Mosta in tricky encounter
by Ayrton Galea - 27th August 2011This evening Birkirkara FC will face a psychological test of sorts when in the first match for today they will encounter Mosta FC.
In the opening match of the Premier League Birkirkara collected the first three points of the season when they defeated Qormi with a 2-0 score. Qormi surely deserved something better for their performance but finally it were the goals by Moises Avila Perez and Trevor Cilia that decided where the three points where going.
After an absence of five seasons, Mosta played their first match in the Premier League in a 5-2 defeat against Marsaxlokk. After being 2-0 down, Mosta made a fine comeback and equalised but finally it was the south-sea-siders to score another three goals.
For today's match both teams will be going out for the three points. While Birkirkara hope to register their second consecutive win and stay with maximum points, Mosta will be trying their best to pick their first points of the season.
Missing from the squad will be Shaun Bajada who is still recovering from an ankle ligaments operation and is not expected to play before late October or beginning of November. The latest signing for 'The Stripes', Shola Haruna Shodiya will also be missing from the line-up as the Club is still waiting for the International Transfer Certificate.. Paul Fenech is once again called up with the 18 man squad and today he is expected to be utilised during the second half.
The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and will kick off at 18:30. Transport from Valley Road is available and leaves at 17:30.
