Manuel Bartolo joins Birkirkara FC

by Ivan Mizzi - 20th August 2010

Today, Birkirkara FC registered the Msida St. Joseph goalkeeper, Manuel Bartolo on a loan basis.

Manuel was born on the 26 August 1983 and he made his debut in the Premier League in the 2005/2006 season with Msida St. Joseph, the only team that Manuel has played for in the Premier League Division.

On 15 July 2010, Omar Borg was loaned out to Hamrun Spartans for the 2010/2011 season and 'The Stripes' technical staff began their search for a suitable replacement - a goalkeeper, who will be able to give our defenders the confidence in knowing the post is guarded by a solid goalkeeper. This has already been achieved with Esequiel, and now, the same holds for our new acquisition Manuel Bartolo.

Bartolo has been training with our squad for the last weeks and has already been included as a substitute in, and even started some of, the pre-season friendly matches, where he left a very good impression.

We asked Manuel what was the main reason for deciding to choose our Club and not others who were also interested in his services. He told us "I chose Birkirkara because Mr. Paul Zammit has shown a great interest in my services, and, I believe that the squad is full of energy and determination"

Then, he gave us his views on the upcoming season, and although it is being predicted to be a difficult and balanced one, Bartolo's words show true determination. "It will be a difficult season like all the others. There is no room to give up and I am sure that thanks to this determination - yes we can do it again!"

We wish Manuel the best of luck with our beloved Club.
