It's time for the home leg match
by Matthaeus Grasso - 6th July 2010On Tuesday, Birkirkara will face Santa Coloma in the 2nd leg of the 1st qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
In the 1st leg, Birkirkara were handled a 3-0 walkover victory due to the terrible state of the opponents' pitch.
With this win in the bag, things seems to be easier for 'Stripes' but total concentration would be utterly neccessary to advance to the second qualifying round.
When youngster Joseph Zerafa was asked about the squad's preparation for this match, he responded, "We are fully concentrated. We worked hard during our training sessions and we are 100% ready for this important game."
"During this week, especially in the last days, we worked very hard when it came to tactics, as, let's be realistic, a three goal lead gives us a moral boost that we can make it. If anyone is thinking that we are going to defend throughout the ninety minutes and hoping for the referee to blow the final whistle, he's wrong!"
He continued by adding that the whole team wants to increase the aggregate deficit even further, so as to prove that the team has the capability of progressing, even without last week's walkover.
Joseph Zerafa's interview ended by wishing and hoping that all the Birkirkara supporters will be there to support them during the match!
The ticket price will be just €5, and both sides will be opened for the Birkirkara supporters, who are urged to attend in big numbers.
If Birkirkara qualify, they will face the champions of Slovakia, MSK Zlina, with the first leg being played next week.
See you at the Centenary Stadium!
